HI! I'M JENNA BORTHWICK
Aspiring Journalist
My love for news began when I was in second grade—where I delivered updates to my class during recess. My passion for journalism and politics grew over time, but meeting people and striving to tell their stories hasn't changed.
I'm currently a senior broadcast journalism major with political science and marketing minors at Kent State University. I'm also the digital content director between Kent State's award-winning student media platforms, TV2 and KentWired.

I served as the news director for TV2 after reporting and producing for the station for several semesters. As a MMJ for TV2, my goal was to shine light on issues that impact our community. I've interviewed a diverse range of people in Portage County and typically cover public policy and politics. I was chosen to cover Sen. Sherrod Brown's "Dignity of Work" tour in South Carolina in March 2019, focusing on his potential bid in the 2020 presidential election. I have also interviewed notable figures such as Jerry Springer, the former British Ambassador to the U.S., and survivors of the Kent State Shootings. On top of this, I produced TV2's political affairs show, Portage Pulse.

I interned at WKBN 27 First News in Youngstown in the summer of 2019, reaffirming my passion for journalism. I became an intern at Cleveland's NBC affiliate, WKYC 3News, last February, where I shadowed producers and reporters. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, I work the assignment desk on the weekends and assist the station as needed. I hope to pursue a career as a news producer upon graduation in May 2021.
